Man arrested for robbery near Wilmingtonian Hotel

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police arrested a man after he robbed a woman near the Wilmingtonian Hotel.

47-year-old George Dickens was arrested and charged with larceny after the incident that happened shortly after midnight Sunday.

Police say Dickens attacked a female suspect in the courtyard of the Wilmingtonian and tried to rip her purse from her hands. A witness saw the incident and chased Dickens from the courtyard and down the sidewalk where he caught up with him and there was a struggle.

Officers patrolling on foot found Dickens and the witness during their struggle and detained Dickens.
