Officials talking trash

Trash was on the agenda for New Hanover County Commissioners on Monday. They held a solid waste work session to continue discussion of how to best handle the county’s trash disposal.

Commissioners heard from the Solid Waste Advisory Board, as well as members of the public.

The next step in the process… the county manager’s office must come up with a request for proposal to send out to interested waste haulers.

County staff and commissioners want to hear how the various companies would approach issues such as recycling, incorporating new technology, and handling the county’s landfill and incinerator.
