County commissioners give Southeastern its two million dollars
At their meeting Monday, New Hanover County Commissioners voted to give the Southeastern Center for Mental Health its two million dollars.
That means many mental health services that were in jeopardy will now be funded for the rest of the budget year.
Southeastern handed that money over to the county several years ago toward a joint public and mental health facility; then came the financial crisis and they wanted the money back.
County commissioners would not return it until they were confident the agency had a sound financial plan.
