New Hanover County school officials are asking for parents help
Schools officials in New Hanover County need your help.
Parents with students in New Hanover County schools are being encouraged to attend a district improvement meeting Thursday night.
Parents can offer suggestions and ideas to administrators on how to better area schools. This is the third year the Department of Public Instruction has placed the county under improvement status for not meeting their annual yearly progress.
New Hanover County Schools spokesperson, Valita Quattlebaum said, “Parental involvement is the biggest piece. We need parents to get involved and take it seriously and make sure to do things like making sure your child do his homework. If there is a problem, make sure the child gets that extra help they need, go to the school, talk to the principal. We need to improve in parental involvement.”
Parents will also be presented with information on the progress the district has made.
The meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. at the Dale Spencer Education Building.
