New citizen alert system to keep Brunswick County residents informed
The Brunswick County’s Sheriff’s Office is opening up the lines of communication between law enforcement and the public.
A new citizen alert system informs residents of emergencies, hazardous weather, and bad traffic conditions, not to mention crimes that have happened.
The site is accessed by logging onto citizensobserver.com and clicking on ‘Brunswick County.’ You can scroll through a list of alerts to find out details about a crime or emergency in your area, or click on the map that plots every crime in the county so you can see how safe your neighborhood actually is.
By using this system, the sheriff’s office is informing the public about what’s going on in Brunswick County and getting the community’s help in return. “They can be our eyes out in the neighborhood and relay that information to us and hopefully in turn, we can solve more cases that way,” said Sheriff John Ingram.
If someone is wanted or missing, the county-wide alert can help the community track the person down.
