Downtown Wilmington home hit by car Sunday night

Residents of one downtown Wilmington home were quite startled after a Cadillac crashed into their living and dining room late Sunday night.

The occupants of the home on Willard Street were on the other side of the house when it happened. The car drove into their house, demolishing half of the structure, before catching on fire. Three people were in the car, and two left the scene running.

The residents are lucky to be alive today. “It sounded like a freight train, it looks like a tornado hit it. It sounded like a tornado hit the house, it’s scary, just scary,” said home owner, John Senes.

Police are investigating what caused the crash. No one has been charged in the incident.
