Teen arrested in drive-by shooting investigation

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Another teenager is behind bars charged with a drive-by shooting in Wilmington.

Wilmington Police say Jose Antonio Torres, 18, was charged in connection with the shooting on Rutledge Drive Dec. 27. Investigators said a 19-year-old man was shot in the foot as he and another man walked down the street, when witnesses said a dark blue Saturn with two men inside drove by and opened fire.

Jail records show Torres was arrested Monday. He’s charged with assault with a deadly weapon, felony conspiracy and gun crimes. He is jail under a $75,000 bond, police say.

A WPD spokeswoman says the investigation continues.
