Officer assaulted after confronting suspect

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A suspect is in custody after assaulting an officer early Saturday morning.

Police say the suspect dine and dashed at Kickback Jack’s late Friday night.

The officer confronted the suspect behind Best Buy on College Rd. A struggle took place; and the suspect injured the officer.

The suspect was taken into custody, the officer’s name has not yet been released.
