WPD ceremony for Sergeant Fey

An 18-year veteran of the Wilmington Police Department said goodbye to the force.

A retirement ceremony for Sergeant Mike Fey was held at police headquarters Friday afternoon.

It was standing room only with Fey’s family, friends, and much of the department.

Fey survived a near-fatal gunshot wound to the neck in 2005 while chasing a suspect in the Houston Moore development.

Fey looked back on his time with WPD with fond memories. “It’s like a second family. It was great career, a fulfilling career, law enforcement for me, I have no regrets about getting into it, it’s what I always wanted to do.”

Fey said right now he looks forward to being a stay at home dad with his three children.
