FIRST ON 3: Downtown Waffle House plans delayed

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Plans to build a late-night eatery downtown have been pushed back.

According to the Wilmington Business Journal, Waffle House was supposed to open in 2015. A spokeswoman for the restaurant chain now tells us the date has been pushed back to early 2017. She adds the date is always subject to change.

The restaurant will occupy the space where Soapbox used to be. It closed a few years ago.
