Even in down economy, vets in high demand

Despite the economic downturn, the Bolz Family is building a new animal hospital. They say now is as good a time as any to start their own veterinary practice.

Theirs is one of several new businesses popping up along Carolina Beach Road in Monkey Junction.

They said with the growing population in that area, people are bound to need vets. “I think a majority of people treat their pets as people, and just like you wouldn’t not take your child to the dentist, if your animal needed veterinary care, you would see veterinary care. Pets are part of the family now, and they need attention,” said Debbie Bolz.

Although residential construction may be down, the commercial building market is fairly steady.
