4.1 Magnitude earthquake reported in South Carolina

Edgefield, SC (WWAY) –The United States Geological Survey is reporting a 4.1(previously estimated at 4.4) magnitude earthquake happened 7 miles northwest of Edgefield Friday night around 10:23 p.m.

The USGS reports the quake was only about three miles deep. According to state officials, that’s a very shallow event, which can cause more damage.

As of now, no damage has been reported.
