Allegiant cuts flights to Tampa

Just months after beginning service between Wilmington and the Tampa Bay area, Allegiant Air is scaling back.

Allegiant’s last flight from ILM to the St. Petersburg/Clearwater International Airport will be May 17.

The company will be contacting travelers who have reservations beyond that date.

Allegiant says there was simply a lack of demand for that flight.

Allegiant will still fly between here and the Orlando area.
