Wilmington Residential Facility for Women may be saved
A Wilmington women’s prison may have a fighting chance of keeping its doors open.
The Wilmington Residential Facility for Women was on Governor Bev Perdue’s budgetary chopping block.
This week, State Representative Danny McComas introduced a bill to save it. A spokesperson for the facility says staff and inmates are now hopeful that someone is on their side.
The women’s prison on Darlington Ave. houses 36 inmates, many of whom hold jobs in the community.
