Altman to face death penalty

A Wilmington man charged with double murder is now on trial for his life.

Friday morning, a New Hanover County judge ruled Gerard Altman will face the death penalty if convicted.

Altman is accused of robbing and brutally murdering his mother, Laura Gallagher, and her husband, James at their home.

Altman has already served thirteen years in a state prison in New York for robbery.

Authorities found the victims dead in their Ogden home in February.
