Mexican man sent to prison for sex trafficking
WASHINGTON (AP) – A 44-year-old undocumented Mexican national was sentenced to 24 years in prison on charges that he transported two teenage girls between Washington, D.C., and North Carolina to engage in sex acts.
A statement from the U.S. Department of Justice said Jorge Flores-Rojas was sentenced Monday in federal court in Charlotte, N.C., on two counts of sex trafficking of minors and one count of interstate transportation of an adult for purposes of commercial sex.
Flores-Rojas was accused of trafficking the 16- and 17-year-old girls and an adult woman between Charlotte and Washington to perform commercial sex acts in November 2007.
Flores-Rojas, who pleaded guilty last October, must pay $117,000 in restitution to one of the victims and register as a sex offender. He will be deported to Mexico upon his release from
prison.
