Lower gas prices mean more travelers this Easter
With gas prices much lower this year than the last Easter holiday, law enforcement is expecting more drivers on the road. Highway Patrol and other agencies will be stepping up patrols on our roadways to make sure people are being safe.
With increased traffic comes with an increase in your chances of getting into an accident.
“We’ve noticed a great influx of people so far this week from Azalea Festival, right on through,” said Highway Patrol’s C.C. Albritton. “It being spring break, there are a lot of people traveling; there will be a lot of vehicles on the road. Don’t get in any hurry, and of course anybody taking any alcohol, don’t drink and drive.”
According to AAA, the state average for gasoline is around $2.01. A year ago, it averaged over $2.50.
