Annual Children’s Tea kicks off Azalea Festival festivities

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Annual Azalea Festival Children’s Tea kicked off all the festivities for this year’s big festival season in the Cape Fear.

Dozens of little girls got the royal treatment at the event Sunday, where belles and beauty queens dressed up in their Azalea Festival finery.

This year, a well-known children’s book character, Fancy Nancy, made a guest appearance. Face painting, manicures and makeovers made every little girl feel like a princess.

“When I got my dress on, my sister Ella, she’s two years old, she was like ‘You’re Cinderella,’ Adriana Bingham said. “She’s seen Cinderella and all that so she thinks I’m Cinderella.”

This year’s tea party was the 12th of its kind.
