Duke Power CEO at NC sustainable energy conference
RALEIGH — The North Carolina agency responsible for managing the state’s increasing use of alternative energy is hearing from Duke Energy CEO James Rogers.
The State Energy Office holds its sixth annual sustainable energy conference in Raleigh on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Duke Power and the state’s other utility, Progress Energy, have had an increased interest in sustainable energy since the state required two years ago that they generate or buy an increasing percentage of their electricity from renewable sources like wind and solar.
Sustainable energy is also part of the Obama administration’s effort to pump money into the sector as a part of its economic recovery and environmental quality efforts.
