Crowds turn out for 2016 Taking Control of Your Health Fair

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — If the crowds that came out for the 2016 Taking Control of Your Health Fair are any indication, a lot of people in the Cape Fear are looking to get healthier.

A steady stream of people wound through more than 50 vendor booths at Independence Mall in Wilmington today. They were able to learn about programs and products available in our area, get free health screenings, meet WWAY anchors and more.

Participants like Jerry Coston took advantage of the one-on-one time with medical experts.

“I have a friend that lives in Ohio who recently had breast cancer, so I asked questions about that,” Coston said. I just asked different questions about different programs and stuff out there.”

Scott Smith was just swinging by the mall for lunch when the fair caught his eye.

“It benefits the community and it benefits people coming to the mall,” Smith said. “It brings people into the mall then they leave with good information, so they can make some good health choices.”
