Bobcats training camp will not come to Wilmington
The NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats have lost millions of dollars in their first five seasons of play. Last summer the team laid off 38 employees. It appears there will be more cost cutting next season, and it will have an effect on Wilmington.
The Bobcats traditionally hold a week long training camp on the campus of UNC-Wilmington every October, but head coach Larry Brown says the 2009 training camp will probably stay at the team’s practice facility in Charlotte to save money.
The announcement caught the UNCW athletic department off guard. They had not been contacted by the Bobcats.
