New Hanover County students awarded for artistic talents

Many artists strive to have their work on display. Four New Hanover County students have reached that goal.

Dahaun Jones of Sunset Park Elementary, Ally Edwards of Wrightsville Beach Elementary, Katelyn Lewis of Roland-Grise Middle and Fidencio Martinez of Laney High are the winner’s of this year’s Superintendent’s Choice Awards. Superintendent Alfred Lerch picked their art from each of four grade categories. The budding masters were thrilled by the honor.

“I was surprised, because I’m usually not good at art,” said Ally Edwards.

“Any notices I get and awards are just tremendous to me, to my self esteem at this point,” added Fidencio Martinez.

The four pieces of art will be on display for one year at the New Hanover County Schools Administration Offices at 6410 Carolina Beach Road.
