Special grand jury meets on NC police department
FAYETTEVILLE — A special grand jury has delivered results to a judge in the investigation of a North Carolina police department, but the judge has sealed the documents from public view.
The Fayetteville Observer reported Tuesday that the grand jury looking into the Spring Lake Police Department met on Monday for about 1½ hours. Judge E. Lynn Johnson ordered information from the panel to be sealed.
Cumberland County District Attorney Ed Grannis told Spring Lake Police Chief A.C. Brown earlier this month that he planned to asked the grand jury to consider indictments. But there was no mention of what indictments would cover.
The county sheriff has handled felony investigations in the town since July 2007.
