Local law enforcement spends the day giving back to the community
Some local law enforcement officers took a break from patrolling to give back to the community.
The Second Annual Cops on Top fundraiser literally had cops on top of the Chick-Fil-a off Oleander Drive. A number of law enforcement agencies joined forces on the roof and in the drive thru, asking customers for donations. The fundraiser benefits the Special Olympics of North Carolina.
Lieutenant Sean Jones said, “The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Department, Wilmington Police Department, the North Carolina ALE, and the North Carolina Highway Patrol are coming together, working together, for the community. The community can see us coming together to come out to support this worthy cause.”
Last year’s fundraiser brought in more than $3,000. This year, the cops hope to top that amount.
