Oak Island to wait another month on Yaupon Pier purchase

Looks like the Town of Oak Island will need to wait another month before it can officially purchase the Yaupon Pier. The town appeared in front of a local government commission Tuesday for final purchase approval, and members of the commission said they needed to see more paperwork.

Meantime, the town is leasing the pier and plans to reopen it on May 16th as the Oak Island Pier.

The pier closed last year when the bank foreclosed.
