A Celebration of Hope honors victims of homicide

A memorial service honoring victims of homicide took place in downtown Wilmington Tuesday night, called A Celebration of Hope.

The Homicide Family Support Group organized this memorial at First Baptist Church. District Attorney Ben David read off 20 names of homicide victims as family members set flowers in a wreath in their memory.

Amelia Martin helped found this support group after her 19-year-old son Ronnie was beaten to death in 1996.

The families and law enforcement have worked closely together on their respective cases and in helping other families who have been ravaged by violent crime.
