Bulldog almost fully recovered after being stabbed
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — An English bulldog that survived a vicious attack last month is now thriving. Deputies arrested a woman last month for stabbing a bulldog named Daisey.
Sheila Kozlowski is the ex-wife of the man who had Daisey at the time of the attack. He signed over ownership of Daisey to her after the stabbing.
“I found out with everybody else on the news about what had happened to Daisey,” said Kozlowski. “And I knew immediately that I had to intercede on her behalf.”
She said it was a priority to make sure Daisey had a happy, stable home. And that’s what she needed because Daisey was fighting for her life.
“Long cut probably from her clavicle clear up to her neck, and another one that went the opposite way,” said Kozlowski. “She had around-the-clock care, because she had to take medicines every four hours, so we just did our best to see her get well.”
Kozlowski said most of Daisey’s stitches are out and she is pretty much back to her old self. She said she still trusts people.
“It’s just tragic to think about the situation that she was in, you know I just try every day to see that the remainder of her life is just happy and the best I can give her,” said Kozlowski.
Daisey is deaf but she doesn’t let that keep her from being a fun-loving companion.
Kozlowski said they set up a Gofundme account to help with her medical bills and they reached their target number in 3 days. She said if people still want to do something for Daisey, she is encouraging them to donate to local animal organizations like Paws Place or Adopt an Angel.
