WFD firefighter, woman facing assault charges

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A firefighter with the Wilmington Fire Department was arrested over the weekend for assault on a female.

According to New Hanover County deputies Francis James Pimenta, 28, was arrested at 6900 Deacon Lane Saturday night and booked into jail early Sunday morning. 

Deputies said Lauren Rose Silvers, 28, was also arrested at the scene for assault and battery.

Malissa Talbert, a spokeswoman for the City of Wilmington, said  Pimenta is a full-time, probationary firefighter. She said he started training in August 2015 and graduated in February 2016. She said he is currently employed.

Deputies said Silvers was released Saturday night and Pimenta bonded out Monday.
