Police looking for truck involved in hit and run with ambulance
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are looking for a pick-up truck investigators say was involved in a hit and run with an ambulance early Sunday morning.
Police say the white Nissan Frontier crashed into a New Hanover Health Care ambulance around 1:25 a.m. at the intersection of Park Ave. and Hawthorne Dr. The ambulance, which had a patient on board, had been traveling north on Hawthorne Dr. on the way to Cape Fear Memorial Hospital.
WPD says the pickup truck drove off and was last seen going east on Park Ave.
From the debris at the scene and witness information, investigators believe it was a white, 2005-2009 Nissan Frontier with a camper shell and ladder rack. They say the truck has red lettering on its side and is probably used in construction; possibly sheet metal or roofing. Police say the truck will have front right grill and front right side damage.
