WPD investigates afternoon shooting at Oleander Dr. shopping center


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are investigating a report of a shooting this afternoon at a shopping center on Oleander Drive.

It happened in the Food Lion plaza at 1929 Oleander Drive.

New Hanover County Dispatch says the call came in at 1:15 p.m. from Rainbow, which is a clothing store in the shopping center, of shots fired at a vehicle.

A spokeswoman with the police department said it was an altercation between two women. She said one of them shot out of a car window.

The spokeswoman said there was damage to the car, but no one was hurt. WWAY weekend anchor Hannah Patrick is at the scene and says she can see a bullet hole in a car door in the parking lot.
