Wrightsville Beach considering de-annexing Galleria

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (NEWS RELEASE) — The Town of Wrightsville Beach has been contacted by the owner of the former Galleria Shopping Center with a proposal to consider not contesting the de-annexation of the approximately 12-acre parcel located within the Town’s municipal limits.

The proposed de-annexation would place the property within the municipal boundaries of the City of Wilmington. The owner intends to construct a mixed use project on the site.

A public hearing will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. in the Wrightsville Beach Town Hall Council Chambers to receive input on the matter. If approved, a member of the NC General Assembly would have to submit a bill in order for the de-annexation to occur.
