NC Coastal Federation tries to delay Titan’s progress

A state environmental organization has gone to the governor to stall the Titan Cement Plant.

In a five-page letter, the North Carolina Coastal Federation asked Governor Perdue to delay state permits on the Carolinas Cement Plant in Castle Hayne until a federal study on its environmental effects is complete.

That study could take up to two years.

A representative for Carolinas Cement says there is no logic in delaying the permit, and the company will continue to follow the process.
