Water at Camp Lejeune not linked to health problems

A federal report says contaminated drinking water at Camp Lejeune cannot be linked to health problems of people who lived on the base.

According to the report released Saturday by the National Research Council, from the 1950s to 1985, people who lived and worked at Camp Lejeune were exposed to industrial solvents that tainted well-water. But the report cannot definitely connect the health problems to the base’s water supply.

Findings indicate people on base did not have diseases different from the general population, and the levels of contaminants in the water were not high enough to cause health problems.
