Other driver cited in head-on crash with deputy

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A New Hanover County Sheriff’s deputy has been involved in a head-on crash at Eastwood Road and Rogersville Road this afternoon, according to NHSO spokesman Sgt. Jerry Brewer.

Brewer said Dep. T. Caulder and the other driver were taken to the hospital to be checked for minor injuries.

Brewer said Caulder was turning left onto Baycreek, which is opposite of Rogersville, when the other driver, Wayne Thomas Blackburn, crossed left of center and hit the deputy’s cruiser head-on.

Brewer says Wilmington Police cited Blackburn for careless and reckless driving.
