Woman rescued after near drowning at Holden Beach

A 49-year-old woman was in critical condition Sunday night after nearly drowning at Holden Beach.

Holden Beach Police said at about 1:00 Sunday afternoon the woman was swimming at the east end of the beach, when she suffered some sort of heart problem. Someone called 911, and emergency crews took the woman to Brunswick Community Hospital.

Investigators have not released her name, but said she was visiting from Denver, near Charlotte.
