Hundreds turn out for annual sunrise Easter service

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Hundreds weathered the rain this morning on Wrightsville Beach for the annual Sunrise Easter Celebration.

This is the 16th year of the special Easter service that is sponsored by North Pointe Community Church.

Guests enjoyed a hot breakfast and there was even entertainment for the kids. Pastor Spencer Loman says being able to have the service on the beach makes it that much more meaningful for Easter Sunday.

“We have an exact imagery of what happened on that Sunday morning thousands and thousands of years ago, understanding that when the sun has risen, we also know that Jesus has risen,” Loman said.
