John Lyons facing six charges after fleeing ILM

The mystery man who fled police by car at ILM airport Monday, and allegedly tried to hit one of them with his car has been identified.

John Lyons was originally processed as John Doe when he refused to cooperate with law enforcement and give his name.

Lyons is facing six different charges from airport police and the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, including assault on a government official and damage to personal property.

He is being held in the New Hanover County Detention Facility under a $50,000 secured bond.
