Market supports female business owners

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Shoppers could find all sorts of local items at Saturday’s Riverfront Family Market.

The market catered to small businesses owned and operated by women. Jewelers, bakers, artisans and sales women set up shop for the day near the battleship. Organizer Kara Knavel said, with the event, she hopes to provide exposure to small business owners.

“I hope people are inspired to shop local and shop small when they see all the things that we have to offer here,” Knavel said.

Knavel plans to host the market again on September 17.
