From homeless to hopeful: Horry County nonprofit provides safe haven, shelter for veterans

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — Lauren Weeks spent five years serving her country in the Marine Corps but this past May, she was fighting just to support herself.

“I left a scary situation and I had enough money for two nights at a hotel,” Weeks said. “Literally for the weekend, I was going to be sleeping outside because I didn’t have any other options.”
