From homeless to hopeful: Horry County nonprofit provides safe haven, shelter for veterans

Lauren Weeks spent five years serving her country in the Marine Corps but this past May, she was fighting just to support herself.

“I left a scary situation and I had enough money for two nights at a hotel,” Weeks said. “Literally for the weekend, I was going to be sleeping outside because I didn’t have any other options.”
