HISTORIC HOME TOUR: DuBois-Boatwright House
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The DuBois-Boatwright House is the second oldest, and just one of four 18th century homes in Wilmington, according to the Azalea Festival Website. It’s one of many on this weekend’s historic home tour.
The home built around 1760 sits at 14 S. 3rd Street in Wilmington.

It is an example of the Wilmington plain home, a Georgian architectural style characterized as rectangular, symmetrical homes with gabled roofs and front piazzas.
Right now, it’s under renovation. SDI Construction president Beth Pancoe said crews started them a year ago for the owners, and they’ve run into one problem after another.
“We had an interesting thing that happened when we were jacking the house to get it level. The back of the house fell off. Totally. Wall and everything fell out into the backyard. There’s an interesting piece in time no one was expecting,” Pancoe said.
Pancoe added that the renovations won’t be done until May, but crews will spruce it up as much as possible for the Azalea Festival Home tour Saturday and Sunday.
