Case of alleged rape ends in a mistrial

The case of an alleged rape in Brunswick County has ended in a mistrial.

Nineteen-year-old Adam Wesley Hudson of West Virginia was accused of raping his 12-year-old cousin in Holden Beach.

The alleged incident occurred last summer, when the two were on vacation here.

Jurors deliberated for almost five hours Thursday and again Friday morning, but could not agree on a verdict.

Hudson is free to go for now. No word yet on whether the district attorney will retry the case.
