Pedestrian hit and killed on Market Street

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A pedestrian was hit and killed in Wilmington Monday evening.

Police say the accident happened at Market Street and Gingerwood Drive around 8:00 p.m.

Police say a Volkswagen Jetta was travelling West on Market Street when a pedestrian was crossing the road. The pedestrian was struck and killed.

There are no charges as of now. The accident is being investigated.

The road was closed off earlier Monday evening, but it is now open.
