WPD investigates murder overnight

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police say they have a potential person of interest as they investigate a murder overnight.

WPD spokeswoman Linda Rawley says it happened around 1 a.m. at 4815 Oriole Drive. That’s near Racine Drive.

Rawley says police found the victim, who appears to be a Hispanic male in his mid 20s, lying face down in an apartment with multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say there were several men standing outside the home when they got there. The witnesses told officers the victim was stabbed after a fight.

Police have not released the victim’s name until they notify the next of kin.
