DOT sets public meeting on Leland traffic issues
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — The North Carolina Department of Transportation has scheduled a public meeting to discuss traffic issues caused by construction on US 17/74/76 in Leland.
The meeting will be held Tuesday, Sept. 23, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Leland Middle School at 927 Old Fayetteville Rd.
According to a news release, the meeting will be a discussion session with the DOT about alternatives to the traffic congestion on US 17/74/76 between Leland and Wilmington. It will be an opportunity for citizens to ask questions and voice their concerns and ideas.
The traffic has become a major issue in recent weeks as the DOT moves forward on widening the causeway to eventually ease traffic congestion in the area. The project is scheduled to be done in November 2016.
The DOT met with local leaders Monday to discuss some possible fixes, but no decisions have been announced publicly so far.
