Evangelous finalist for Savannah chief
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington’s police chief is up for a top job in another city.
Ralph Evangelous is a finalist to be chief in Savannah, GA, WPD spokeswoman Linda Rawley confirmed. Rawley says at this point Evangelous is not making any comments on the job.
According to a news release from Savannah City Manager Stephanie Cutter, Evangelous is one of three finalists for the job. The others are fellow chiefs Joseph Lumpkin, of Athens-Clarke County, GA, and William Heim of Reading, PA.
“These three finalists are each highly qualified, bringing experience as the heads of progressive police departments in diverse communities,” Cutter said.
The three finalists were selected from a pool of 114 applicants from 29 states.
Evangelous has been Wilmington Police Chief since August 2004.
