DC couple charged with Wilmington bank robbery

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police have charged an out-of-state couple with a bank robbery that happened earlier this summer.

Leonard Short, 31, and Porsha Davis, 25, both of Washington, DC, are charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit a robbery with a dangerous weapon.

The robbery happened July 28 at the First Citizens Bank at 2200 S. 17th Street. Witnesses told police a man entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money.

US Marshals arrested the couple last week in Washington, DC. They are now in custody in suburban Maryland, WPD said in a news release. Investigators say the pair had been living in Wilmington for a short while.

Short and Davis have both waived extradition. They will be brought back to Wilmington in the coming weeks to face these charges.
