#ThisIsThePlace: Elizabethtown native soared into history

ELIZABETHTOWN, NC (WWAY) — On MLK Drive in Elizabethtown is a mural honoring an a native son who is truly out of this world.

Three years ago this week Col. Curt Brown was inducted into the Astronaut Hall of Fame.

The East Bladen High School grad spent a total of 57 days in space during six space shuttle flights in the 1990s, including three as pilot and three more as commander.

Elizabethtown’s airport also bears his name.
