Wilmington law firm looks to help injured get healthy

Personal injury attorneys represent people who have been hurt in an accident. Monday, one Wilmington law firm did its part to help them heal.

Monday morning, lawyers from Shipman and Wright donated a Wii gaming system to the Oleander Rehabilitation Center. It is part of a program where law firms from 25 states are giving more than 60 Nintendo Wii’s to rehabilitation centers, nursing homes and hospitals.

“The Wii certainly has a compartment of fitness which is so essential to well being and health,” said NHRMC Rehab Services Director Leslie Kesler. “It also is the opportunity to learn particular skills for people that are disabled. It can give you an opportunity if you can’t physically go the bowling alley you can still get the pleasure and the movement of doing that and it’s very adaptable so people with very limited skills can still get something out of it.”

The Wii donations program began last year.
