Hagan doesn’t plan health care town hall meeting

RALEIGH — North Carolina Sen. Kay Hagan doesn’t plan to hold any health care town hall meetings, some of which have drawn angry protesters around the country.

Hagan is spending the August recess doing photo opportunities and meeting with health care workers. She’s also talking with constituents during open-door meetings.

Hagan’s spokeswoman Stephanie Allen says the open-door meetings and other appearances are more productive for discussions on health care reform.

But the limited speaking engagements didn’t stop hundreds of Republican activists who visited Hagan’s office last week with signs criticizing the health care bill.
