Man selling honey is robbed of nearly $300

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) –The Pender County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery that happened just south of Burgaw on Highway 117S.

Deputies said the victim was selling honey in his driveway when the suspect approached him showing a gun and demanding all his money and cell phone. Nearly $300 and credit cards were stolen from the victim. The victim said the suspect made him lay down on the ground until the suspect drove off and was told he would be killed if he didn’t do so.

Deputies said the suspect is about 5′ 9″, bald on top with surrounding black hair covering just above his ears and driving a black Subaru Forester SUV. They said the suspect also has a neatly trimmed short beard and mustache with the beard coming to his ears as sideburns. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a blue and white checkered shirt with a yellow stripe down the front and black pants.

The victim was not able to get the license plate number of the suspect’s car, but was not injured.
